What are Coaxial Rotary Joints?

These assemblies transfer power and signals between the rotating and stationary parts of radar or satcom systems with 50 Ohm requirements. Engineers select configurations based on performance needs:

• Contacting for broad bandwidth

• Contactless for long life

• Single channel for broad bandwidth and low-loss applications

• Hollow shaft (20–25% bandwidth), stackable for multi-channel assemblies

Key applications

These assemblies transmit power and signals between stationary and rotating components in radar, satcom, and electronic warfare (EW) systems.

Two- and three-channel versions are common in ATC/secondary surveillance radars (SSR) and identify friend or foe (IFF) systems. Engineers can use them individually or integrate them into ATC waveguide rotary joints.
